The Studio D'Artisan D4614 is crafted from a unique 16oz denim inspired by "Futa-AI" (Nitai), a traditional Japanese color created by combining indigo and safflower dyes. Dating back to the Heian period, this distinctive purple-blue hue was once associated with nobility and reserved for the upper classes, symbolizing elegance, status, and refinement.

Reimagining this historic color for modern denim, Studio D'Artisan developed an original fabric featuring warp yarns dyed with a blend of natural indigo and safflower-derived pigments. The result is a deep, rich indigo-purple tone with subtle color variations that showcase the beauty and unpredictability of natural dyes.

Both the warp and weft are spun from textured 6-count slub yarns, giving the fabric exceptional character and a rugged, uneven surface.
