DENIM MADE IN JAPAN

Denim Made in Japan is recognized worldwide for its exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and uncompromising quality. After denim first arrived in Japan in the mid-20th century, local mills and artisans began perfecting the craft, using vintage shuttle looms and time-honored dyeing techniques.

Today, Japanese denim is considered the gold standard for selvedge and premium fabrics. What makes Japanese denim unique is the commitment to tradition combined with innovation. Many mills still use antique shuttle looms to produce dense selvedge denim with a distinctive edge finish. The fabrics are often dyed with natural indigo in small batches, creating deep, rich shades of blue that age beautifully over time. Each pair of jeans develops unique fades and patina, reflecting the wearer’s lifestyle. The denim culture in Japan is about more than just producing jeans – it’s about preserving heritage, valuing craftsmanship, and pushing boundaries in design and quality.

From Okayama to Kojima, Japanese brands are celebrated for their passion, authenticity, and the ability to transform denim into true works of art.Denim Made in Japan represents a perfect blend of tradition, artistry, and modern style – a symbol of dedication and excellence admired by denim enthusiasts around the globe.

SELVEDGE?!

Selvedge denim jackets are made on traditional shuttle looms, producing a clean, self-finished edge that won’t fray. They are denser, more durable, and develop a unique worn-in look over time.

Non-selvedge denim jackets are made on modern looms, have standard stitched edges, are softer and lighter, and offer a more immediate, casual wear at a lower price.

MATERIAL

Raw denim is untreated and unwashed, stiff at first, and develops a unique fade with wear.

Washed denim has been pre-washed or treated for softness, color variation, and comfort, offering a worn-in look from the start.

Sanforized denim is pre-shrunk to minimize shrinkage, while stretch denim blends elastane for flexibility and easier movement.

FITS

Slim: Close-fitting and tailored, offering a sleek, modern silhouette.

Regular: Classic fit with moderate room, comfortable for layering and everyday wear.

Loose: Relaxed and roomy, providing maximum comfort and a casual look.

DENIM WEIGHT? WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

Lightweight denim (under ~12 oz) is soft, breathable, and comfortable for warmer weather, breaking in quickly.

Midweight denim (~12–16 oz) offers a balance of durability and comfort, suitable for year-round wear.

Heavyweight denim (16 oz and above) is thick, stiff, and highly durable, developing deep fades and character over time, ideal for long-lasting, rugged wear.

WHAT FITS ME THE BEST?

Slim fit jeans are narrow through the thigh and taper down the leg, giving a modern, tailored silhouette while still allowing some movement.

Regular fit jeans have a straight cut from hip to hem, offering a classic look with balanced comfort for everyday wear.

Loose fit jeans provide extra room through the hips, thighs, and legs, ideal for maximum comfort, layering, or a relaxed, casual style.

Open leg jeans have a wider opening at the ankle, giving a casual, laid-back appearance and more freedom of movement.

Fullcount Denim Quality

We started by disassembling vintage denim, analyzing the fabric from one of the threads that make up denim, and thoroughly researching the sewing mechanism.
We went to Kojima, a jeans production area, every week to find a factory where we could make my ideal jeans.

It was the fact that it was impossible to make the ideal jeans with the equipment of the factory at that time (at the time of establishment).
The power loom for making selvedge denim was almost non-operational, there were no sewing machines or craftsmen who could sew, and even cotton sewing threads were stocked in only white and black.
It is said that production efficiency was emphasized with the times, and old machines were weeded out.

From the selvedge fabrics that are now taken for granted to the accessories such as cotton threads, sewing machines and buttons, we had to rebuild everything from scratch.
