The jacket achieves its rich brown tone through Amami-Oshima mud dyeing (Kashari-zome), an ancient craft native to the island. The fabric undergoes repeated cycles of dyeing in extract from native Techi trees (Crateva religiosa) before being steeped in iron-rich mud from 1.5-million-year-old geological layers. This purely natural process yields a deep, organic warmth that synthetic dyes cannot match.
