Omoto Denim 3215 Type 2 Denim Jacket Charcoal Dyed

The Type 2 Denim Jacket refers to a specific style of denim jacket that originated in the mid-20th century, popularized by American workwear and military garments. The "Type 2" name comes from a historical classification system used by Levi's for their denim jackets, particularly during the 1950s. 

Made from Omoto’s custom 13.5 oz. selvedge denim, woven on a 1950s Sakamoto shuttle loom to recreate the distinctive texture and weight of vintage selvedge denim.
The denim is then overdyed with Japanese binchotan white charcoal, made from the wood of the ubame oak tree and traditionally used in Japanese cooking. This process stiffens and darkens the fabric, creating an exceptional dusky black-blue hue that varies from jacket to jacket.

Over time, the overdye will gradually fade, revealing deeper charcoal-toned indigo undertones and giving each jacket its own unique character.
