Guardian 2 Selvedge is a 14.25oz Japanese selvedge denim developed with a focus on exceptional strength and long-term durability. The fabric combines premium cotton with Kevlar®, an aramid fiber introduced in 1965 and recognized for its outstanding tensile strength - its ability to resist tearing and being pulled apart.

The discovery of Kevlar® was entirely accidental. Originally developed during research into lightweight reinforcement fibers for automobile tires, the resulting material proved so exceptionally strong and stable that it quickly found applications in body armor, aerospace engineering, and demanding industrial environments.

Unlike many performance fabrics that compromise the character of traditional denim, Guardian 2 retains the appearance, texture, and aging potential of classic Japanese selvedge while offering significantly greater tear resistance than an equivalent 100% cotton fabric. Although the jeans are not bulletproof, the Kevlar® content provides a substantial increase in durability, particularly in high-stress areas and through years of repeated wear.

A subtle pale yellow hue is visible in the weft, reflecting the natural color of Kevlar® fibers. This understated detail serves as a discreet visual signature of the fabric's reinforced construction, adding depth and character without overpowering the rich indigo surface.
