Its deep, earthy brown hue is not the result of traditional dyeing but rather a natural blend of Foxfibre® cotton and an iron mordant treatment, resulting in a rich, organic tone that deepens over time. Foxfibre® is a naturally colored cotton, organically grown on a single-origin farm in New Mexico, eliminating the need for artificial dyes. The Coyote 80 blend features the deepest and richest shades in the Foxfibre® range, combining 80% Foxfibre® with 20% organically grown Extra Long Staple cotton. This composition enhances the fabric’s natural softness, strength, and durability. To further deepen the tone, the cotton fibers undergo an iron mordant treatment - a traditional process in which the material is soaked in an iron-rich solution that reacts with the cotton’s natural pigments. The result is a deeper, more dimensional brown that continues to develop over time, evolving into a unique, aged finish through wear and exposure.
Knitted in Wakayama, Japan, using circular knitting machines, this French terry fabric is constructed at a low gauge (10G), producing an irregular surface texture. Large, soft loops line the interior, contributing to both tactile comfort and distinctive visual character.
