The Iron Mordant Foxfibre® Double Heavyweight French Terry - Coyote 80 is one of the heaviest knits available today, weighing in at an impressive 825 GSM (24.3 oz per square yard). Its deep, earthy brown hue is not the result of traditional dyeing, but rather a natural blend of Foxfibre® cotton and an iron mordant treatment, producing a rich, organic tone that deepens with age. Foxfibre® is a naturally colored cotton, organically grown on a single-origin farm in New Mexico, eliminating the need for artificial dyes. The Coyote 80 blend represents the deepest and richest shade in the Foxfibre® range, composed of 80% Foxfibre® and 20% organically grown Extra Long Staple cotton. This combination enhances both softness and durability. To enrich the fabric’s tone, the cotton fibers undergo an iron mordant treatment - a traditional process where fibers are soaked in an iron-rich solution that reacts with the cotton’s natural pigments. The result is a deep, earthy brown with remarkable dimension and character. Over time, Foxfibre® cotton naturally evolves in color, gradually developing deeper hues through a unique aging process.
Produced in Wakayama, Japan, on circular knitting machines, this French terry fabric features a low gauge (10G) knit with an irregular surface texture and large, soft interior loops, offering both comfort and visual appeal.
The Pullover Crewneck showcases a modern athletic fit with a ribbed binder collar and vintage-style inlaid V gusset. Raglan sleeves, ribbed side panels, cuffs, and hem provide structure and comfort, while flat seam construction ensures a clean, refined finish. Expert craftsmanship from Japan underscores the garment’s exceptional quality.
