Shigeharu Tagaki created Studio D'Artisan in Osaka in 1979. A generation of denim enthusiasts, including Tagaki-san, became enamored with the American five-pocket jean as a result of the denim craze that swept over Japan in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their pieces often highlight meticulous attention to detail, authenticity, and vintage-inspired designs. They’re celebrated for their raw denim, which is designed to age and mold to the wearer’s body over time, creating a unique, personalized look.
