Created in honor of Kojiro Sasaki, who is depicted on Samurai’s leather patches and is known as a master swordsman along with Musashi Miyamoto.
The fabric is a newly-created lefthand twill denim with a rough yet soft feel, using the uneven Zero 17oz yarn. This meeting of paradoxes was inspired by the flexible yet rough style of swordsmanship displayed by Kojiro, who is said to have once sliced a swallow in half using a sword over a meter long. The design is a classic style with a buckle back and a regular straight silhouette.
Kojiro Sasaki was one of the most famous samurai in Japan and was the greatest rival of Musashi Miyamoto. He died after losing a duel with Musashi at Ganryu Island in 1612. He is known as a master swordsman who wielded a massively long sword, also known as a ‘clothesline’ (referring to the long poles that laundry used to be hung out on). Beyond this, most of Kojiro’s life remains a mystery.
